This pre-assembled kit is for KU students enrolled in Art 101/Drawing 1 with Shawn Bitters. This kit contains the CORE items required for the course, primarily for beginning-level students (though higher-level students may wish to purchase the kit to supplement their existing supplies at the highest possible discount, or, you might wish to come to the shop in person to start with a complete kit but select out only the parts of the kit that you need to purchase, if you already own many of these supplies).
For all levels of students, additional supplemental materials commonly found at home (sunscreen, water bottle, etc.) may also be required as the semester progresses. The materials in this CORE KIT have been specifically selected by instructors to ensure students have the materials required to begin the semester and complete your first projects successfully.
Kit includes:
- 8 1/2x11 Strathmore 200 Sketchbook
- 140lb 9x12 Watercolor Pad, 20 sheets, 100% cotton paper (Fluid 100 brand; affordable and instructor-approved alternative to Arches watercolor pad)
- 9x12 tracing paper pad
- Set of Faber Castell Drawing Pencils in HB, 2B, 4B, 6B
- Set of Prismacolor Premier soft-core colored pencils in Black, Medium Grey, Light Grey, Red, Green, and Yellow.
- Ohto Graphic Liner waterproof archival pigment ink pen 1.5mm (replaces/improves on "Micron pen 2.0 or larger")
- Set of 7 rewettable Holbein Artist's Primary Gouache paints in Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black, White, Burnt Umber, and Burnt Sienna
- Round plastic palette
- Set of Watercolor brushes in sizes small round, medium round, large round, and medium flat.

Pick Up/Delivery Options (you will select your preference at checkout):
"Classroom Delivery": Kits can be pre-ordered online, and we will deliver your kit to your classroom at or before the beginning of your third class meeting on Wednesday June 4, 2025. Please note--orders must be placed and payment complete at least 5 hours before the delivery window to ensure our staff has time to receive your order, and assemble and deliver your paid kit.
"Free Pick Up In Store": Kits can be pre-ordered online, and picked up at Wonder Fair (841 Massachusetts St., Lawrence, KS) during our regular business hours beginning Tuesday, June 3rd. Please choose this shipment method if you have additional art supplies to purchase at Wonder Fair; all art supplies purchased at time of pick-up in store will also be discounted 30% as a special perk for students purchasing a class kit online or in person.
Shop in Person: Prefer to purchase your kit in person, to customize your kit (i.e. purchase fewer items), or do additional shopping? No problem! Wonder Fair is open Monday-Saturday 9:30am-8pm, and Sunday 10am-6pm. Students who purchase a class kit will receive 30% off any additional supplies purchased alongside their kit. Students can shop in person for a la carte kit items beginning Tuesday, June 3rd.
